How far is Akchour from Chefchaouen?
About 30 km into the Rif Mountains. The drive takes 40 to 45 minutes each way on a scenic mountain road.
How long do I get at Akchour?
3 to 4 hours. That's enough time to hike to God's Bridge, swim, and have lunch at a riverside café. If you want to hike to the big waterfall too, plan for the full 4 hours.
What if I want to stay longer than 4 hours?
The standard trip includes up to 4 hours of waiting. For extra time, let us know on WhatsApp and we'll work something out with the driver.
Do I need a guide at Akchour?
No. The trails are well-marked and most visitors hike independently. Local guides are available at the trailhead for around 100 to 200 MAD if you prefer one.
What should I bring?
Comfortable walking shoes, water, sunscreen, and cash for food. In summer, bring a swimsuit and towel for the natural pools. The big waterfall trail is steep, so proper hiking shoes if you plan to go that far.
When is the best time to visit?
February to June and September to November. The waterfall is fullest in spring. Avoid late July to September when water levels drop. Winter trails can be slippery after rain.
Which vehicle should I choose?
The Skoda fits up to 4 passengers and costs less. The van fits up to 7 and has more space for bags and gear. Same route, same experience, just depends on your group size.
